Grass Fed Beef

The cattle we offer for your enjoyment are naturally bred, born and raised here on our farm. We practice natural service breeding using our bulls and cows. Herston Red Angus graze our pastures, are never fed grain supplements, growth promoting hormone, or antibiotics, except as prescribed by our vet to treat an illness.

FREQUENTY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT GRASS FED BEEF

Grass fed beef is different from the beef found at your typical grocery store meat counter.  Grass feeding improves the quality of beef, produces beef with less total fat, and makes the beef richer in omega-3 fats, vitamin E, beta-carotene, and conjugated linoleic acid.  The website The Worlds Healthiest Foods offers good information on the health benefits, nutritional information, and preparation techniques for grass fed beef.

Because grass fed beef is leaner than beef from cows on a conventional diet, it requires different cooking techniques to bring out the best textures and flavors of the product.  Click here for tips on cooking various cuts of grass fed beef.
